Service & Leadership Through Dance

The National Honor Society for Dance Arts™ (NHSDA) is a program of the National Dance Education Organization, a non-profit, membership organization dedicated to advancing dance education centered in the arts. NDEO provides the dance artist, educator and administrator a network of resources and support, a base for advocacy and research, and access to professional development opportunities that focus on the importance of dance in the human experience.

Mission of NHSDA

1. To recognize outstanding artistic merit, leadership, and academic achievement in students studying dance in public and private schools in K-12 education, dance studios, cultural/community centers, performing arts organizations, and post-secondary education.

2. To foster an appreciation for dance as a true art form and one worthy of recognition and prestige.

Our NHSDA program is divided into two Chapters:
Junior ~ grades 6 thru 8
Secondary ~ grades 9 thru 12

 
Benefits of Becoming a Member of NHSDA
 
  • Recognition of artistic merit, academic achievement, and leadership throughout your educational experience.
  • Certificate at each level of induction, opportunity to wear NHSDA Honor Pin and Honor Cord
  • Leadership and development opportunities within your NHSDA chapter including event planning and administration, outreach, fundraising, and more
  • National and state-level scholarship award opportunities

Membership Criteria
 
  • Maintain a minimum 3.00 GPA
  • Earn Service Points (Junior = 15, Secondary = 30)
     
  • Demonstrate collaborative teamwork, motivation, and leadership
 
  • It should be noted that Junior members must re-apply at the Secondary level

2025 Application period has closed (Submission Deadline = February 28, 2025)
 
**PLEASE NOTE THAT ABSOLUTELY NO LATE APPLICATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED**

Information will remain available for reference for the next season.  Download of all four parts is recommended.

Paper copies of all parts will be available at the studio desks as well.
